Planting Seeds

God is so good! The work He is doing throughout West Africa continues to put me in awe of Him. Thank you to everyone that has been praying for me and the work that is going on here.

This past week I had the honor of serving with a mission’s team from the states. They came to do village ministry, traveling to different villages everyday building relationships, sharing Bible stories and testimonies. The leader of the team has been coming and serving in West Africa for 19 years. They have built wonderful relationships with the people from the villages we visited.

We would start every day with a devotional and prayer. Then we would travel to the village we would spend the day at. After we would greet everyone, the men would sit and talk. The women from the team would go help the women of the village with preparing lunch. The children that would come would be given coloring sheets and crayons. After the women had finished helping with the food prep and the children finished coloring, there would be an opportunity to share a Bible story or testimony with the children.

We would then eat with the whole village, most of the time it would be delicious rice and fish, ceebu jen. After this, the men would begin to make tea and would discuss many things about God. As the men would talk, many people in the village would come to listen. The team would ask what the people thought a Christian was and what they believed. This would open the door to share what the Bible says and what we as Christians believe. Many of these discussions lasted a long time. Many people in the villages had deep questions about the Gospel.

One night we were able to share the Hope film with one of the villages. The following day, a child from the village went to school. They told everyone there about the film and Jesus. Other people wanted the film to be shown at their homes. We hope to get the film to them in the future.

The team also brought a medical bag and was able to help many people from the villages we traveled to. This was a great way to show the love of Jesus by helping people that are hurting.

Please be in prayer for the people that heard the Gospel this week. Pray that they would continue to think about it. Also, pray that they would ask God to reveal the truth to them. I would appreciate continued prayers as I work to learn the language.

I did not share any photos of the people we worked with. Some of the villages have been facing persecution. We had the opportunity to travel to one of the villages that has been doing a lot of the persecuting. Please be in prayer that what was shared in that village with resonate with the people.
